Danielle Blood

Danielle Blood is a brass, voice and bass guitar instructor who grew up in Northern Idaho. Her experience ranges from teaching individual lessons and group masterclasses in choral and instrumental settings. Danielle can be found performing across the state of South Carolina when she’s not teaching at Freeway Music playing anything from jazz jams on trumpet to Emo cover nights on bass guitar – the newest instrument in her collection!

From singing in Carnegie Hall with the Vandaleers Concert Choir, to the Featured Artist Concerts at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival with the University of Idaho Jazz Band One, to performing the Nutcracker Suite with Palouse Brass, Danielle’s collegiate career awarded her a wide range of performance experience. She was also awarded a full scholarship to participate in the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute with her brass quintet, Blake House Brass. Some noteworthy chair’s Danielle has held are as the principal trumpet for the U of I Orchestra and lead trumpet for the Hog Heaven Big Band. She has also participated as a finalist for the U of I Concerto Competition and as a recurring soloist for the U of I Chamber Jazz Choir.

Danielle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, and a Minor in Vocal Education, all from the University of Idaho. While at university she studied trumpet with Sean Butterfield and Vern Sielert, as well as studied voice with Pamela Bathurst and Christopher Pfund. Danielle has also participated in clinics and masterclasses run by Kevin Cobb and Louis Hanzlik (from the American Brass Quintet), Dee Daniels (vocal jazz soloist), David Hickman (trumpet soloist), Ronald Romm (founding trumpet player of Canadian Brass), and Joe Burgstaller (trumpet soloist, member of Canadian Brass).

Danielle believes that through the process of learning music, we practice skills and cultivate mindsets that allow us to become the best version of ourselves. Danielle strives to create lifelong learners who also happen to be passionate musicians.

Danielle teaches on Wednesdays at Freeway Music Ballentine/Irmo, and Thursdays at Freeway Music Northeast.
