Local Musicians Unite for Can Jam Drive

Can Jam 2015

Since early October when flooding in the Midlands affected so many people, the community has come together to provide families in need with support. This includes the music community who have hosted multiple benefit concerts and an online compilation which donated all funds raised to a local charity. On November 25th at Music Farm musicians will again unite for a Can Jam Drive for Harvest Hope food bank whose resources were hit hard by the recent natural disaster.

Executive Director of the Harvest Hope Food Bank states “the recent events have put a strain on our resources here. This is the time of year when our shelves begin to empty quickly and we need the most help. There are still many needy families here in the Midlands. With the opportunity to give and listen to a diverse range of music while getting to meet some of your favorite local musicians and radio personalities, we could very well surpass our goal. We are very excited.”

The event, which gets starts early on Wednesday evening the day before Thanksgiving, has a stacked and diverse lineup, evening getting The Restoration back together for their first show in a year. From the rockabilly of the Capital City Playboys to the folk hop of Colorblind and the young rock of Dempsey, the lineup represents different sides of the midlands music scene.

Both co-organizer and performer Fat Rat Da Czar states “I’m extremely proud to be able to help organize the first Can Jam Drive in a collaboration with two of the biggest musical outlets in our city. This city has given so much to me, and has been through so much that I just could not pass on an opportunity to give back. We have a great lineup so far and we aren’t finished announcing acts either.”

In addition to Fat Rat Da Czar the Can Jam Drive is organized by Mike Hartel of Alpha Media USA and Trae Judy of the Music Farm with the musical lineup curated in part by Freeway Music Group. Entry to the all ages event is $15 with $5 off entry if you bring 5 or more cans of food.
