Macie Eighmey

MARGARET EIGHMEY from Schenectady, NY, graduated with a Master of Music
degree in Opera Theater from the University of South Carolina in December 2018.
She studies with Dr. Peter Barton and is a choral scholar at Eastminster Presbyterian
Church. Recently, Margaret travelled to Varna, Bulgaria and sang the role of
Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide with the Varna International Music Academy. She
was awarded an Encouragement Award at the South Carolina Metropolitan Opera
Council Auditions in January 2019 and was also a Semi-Finalist at the Classical
Singer Competition in Boston, MA in May 2018. Margaret performed with the USC
Symphony as a winner of the USC School of Music’s concerto competition in 2017.
She was also a featured soloist in the Western New York Chamber Orchestra’s winter
concerts in 2015, singing selections from G.F. Handel’s Messiah. She won the SUNY
Fredonia School of Music’s Concerto Competition and performed with the SUNY
Fredonia Symphony Orchestra in May 2014. Margaret also received a Performer’s
Certificate from SUNY Fredonia in April 2014 in recognition of her musical
understanding and technical proficiency as demonstrated in recital. Previous credits
include Street Singer (MASS: a theater piece), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Mary
Warren (The Crucible), Gianetta (The Gondoliers), Valentina Scarcella (Later the
Same Evening), Dot/Marie (Sunday in the Park with George), Ortensia/Eustacia
(Bastianello), and Susannah (Susannah).
