Augusto (Augie) Gil hails from Blountville, Tennessee, but frequently performs, teaches, conducts, and adjudicates in states throughout the southeast. He was the vocal coach for many ensembles in Knoxville, Tennessee, including Kids In America Show Choir, which was selected to perform at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta (2014) and at Disneyworld in Orlando (2015-17), where they continue to perform Mr. Gil’s original and arranged works twice a year. He enjoys working with students of all ages and encourages collaboration, innovation in music, and performance.
Mr. Gil is pursuing a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at USC where he studies with Doctors Larry Wyatt and Alicia W. Walker. Augie is a graduate of Carson-Newman University where he graduated cum laude with a BM and certification in K-12 Music Education with double emphases in voice and piano. At Carson-Newman, Augie was the recipient of the W.D. Hudgins Leadership award and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan award for leadership and service to humanity. Augie was also instrumental in facilitating the STEP-Up Student Leadership program initiative, and the development and leadership for the LGBT sensitivity and awareness program, Safespace. He is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society, the American Choral Directors Association, and is Eta South Province President and Chair of Fraternity Education for Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity.
He currently serves as the Director of Music and Worship at Carolinas Cornerstone Church of Fort Mill.
