I have always been passionate about music and learned how to play multiple instruments at a young age. My father taught me how to play the guitar when I was 10 and my mother found my first drum set abandoned in an old house around the same time (early 80’s Ludwig!). I took private lessons and was a HUGE band nerd excelling in solo and ensemble contests as well as All State and Region band.
After high school, I attended the University of South Carolina and acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. I was a member of multiple performing groups while attending USC including the WAD Squad (USC Drumline), USC Percussion Ensemble, Palmetto Pans Steel Drum Band and the USC Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. I marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004 and 2005 as a section leader and was also a member of a local original band known as All Good Citizens (I actually played bass guitar in this band!). I studied under and took private lessons from multiple amazing percussionists during this time including Jim Hall, Scott Herring, Paul Rennick and Jeff Queen and I hold these people responsible for my musical knowledge and passion.
After college I began my career as a music educator teaching, designing and arranging music for multiple different award-winning competitive percussion groups including White Knoll High School, Lexington High School, Gilbert High School, Ridgeview High School, North Augusta High School and Palmetto Percussion. I have been teaching private lessons for the last 10 years and it is my favorite part of being a music educator!
I am currently the drummer for the cover band Under the Sun and have been for the last 5 years. I am also the drummer for local rock band Cover of Afternoon and we rock hard.
