Performance Opportunities
At Freeway Music, we pride ourselves on offering our students more performance opportunities than any other music school in Columbia, SC.

Showcases and Recitals
We often pair our voice students with other students to form groups that rehearse and perform in showcases and recitals regularly. Some of the venues include: New Brookland Tavern, Tin Roof, and Music Farm (Columbia’s only music venue with a 1200 person capacity). There are several clips from our showcases and recitals on our YouTube channel.

Open Mics and Open Jams
Students don’t have to wait until showcases or recitals for playing experience. They can attend one of the many open mics and jams that Freeway Music hosts throughout the city. We host open mics at places like Drip, Beef O’ Brady’s, and Social Grill. Freeway Music even has an open jazz jam every other Tuesday at Delaney’s in Five Points. We keep our events posted on the website to make it easy for students to keep up with what is going on.

Events and Concert
Beyond showcases, recitals, and open mic opportunities, students will have exclusive access to many events and concerts. Some of the recent events include: The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, The Okra Strut, Rhythm on the River, Freeway Music Festival, and First Flush Festival (featuring acts such as Sheryl Crow).

Technology:
A major part of our voice instructors’ training includes incorporating apps and technology, seamlessly and creatively, into their lessons.

Apps
Apps allow the instructor to enhance and accelerate the student’s understanding of rhythm, sight reading, ear training, practicing, and more.

Equipment
The voice lesson rooms are equipped with keyboards. All rooms have speakers to plug into to play music and sing-along tracks. Each room also has a full-size mirror for immediate feedback of posture and presentation. Each instructor will use their laptop, tablet, or other device to enhance the voice lessons as well.

Freeway Music is able to take beginner to advanced voice students. Our voice instructors are very well respected in Columbia and often teach other voice instructors in town. You can start at any level and not have to worry about outgrowing your instructor.

We offer voice lessons for rock, country, blues, jazz, and most every style. Some of our teachers have degrees in classical studies and some of them play in rock groups.
