It’s been unseasonably warm for February the last couple of days so you’re going to want to get out of the house this weekend and maybe catch a couple of shows at night. Lucky for you, you’ll have a lot of choices with some great shows at New Brookland Tavern, Nickelodeon Theater, and Indah Coffee whose shows are always a blast. If you’re looking for variety, you got it. From the smooth pop stylings of Grace Joyner who is performing as part of the Sound & Vision series presented by Drip Coffee at the Nick, to Charlotte band Totally Slow whose new EP is both melodic, grungy, and pounding, they’ll pair well with Indah’s cold brew that will get you amped for their set. Don’t miss the openers though, Danger Boy is one of South Carolina’s best new acts. A really great live act who channel a melodic goth punk vibe.

Thursday night kicks off a three night stretch of shows at New Brookland Tavern with Post Timey String Band, Vilai Harrington and Bobby Hatfield performing sans Numbtongue. Vilai Harrington is a must see act from the upstate who performs with a variety of acts, but shines with his solo material and as a performer. He’ll have his band with him this night. Friday night is headlined by Charlotte rockers Junior Astronomers who call Columbia a second home town. They’ll be joined by their friends in Dear Blanca who have been in the studio lately recording their new album. Girls Rock Gear Drive tops it off Saturday as Girls Rock gears up for their summer camp. Donate any of that old equipment that you don’t use, but they’re in need of. The lineup is great, with She Returns from War headlining and joined by Alarm Drum and Platonic Bae. Both Platonic Bae and Alarm Drum have relatively new releases, and She Returns from War has one on the horizon. Like Dear Blanca, She Returns from War has spent time in Charleston at Rialto Row recording their upcoming release.
