Record Store Day Black Friday
With Thanksgiving coming up Thursday and Black Friday the following day, you might want to get started on your holiday shopping. If you’re not looking forward to long lines and crowds at big box store retailers, maybe you’ll be interested in Record Store Day Black Friday where they’ll have some special items and collectibles for sale. This year they have the double whammy, with Black Friday and small business Saturday the following day. They’re pretty much the same with Record Stores though, as Record Store Day focuses on small businesses.
“I will never get tired of saying that gifts from a record store, for yourself or someone else, are just the coolest things you could possibly get,” adds Carrie Colliton, Record Store Day co-founder/organizer. “And I think that a lot of people are realizing that sometimes what you find at a record store is just a little different, a little more special because the person behind the music– the person who’s putting the release together, the folks behind the package on the shelf feel that record stores are special too.”
So, what are some items that we have our eyes on? There are a few! Like the new release from Lake Street Dive who play Columbia in January, along with special first time releases from The Byrds, Manchester Orchestra and Kacey Musgraves. The full list is linked below, but with all the great new music that came out this year, it’s always a good time to visit your local record store and pick out a Christmas gift or two.
