A.J. Lang, a former student of two Columbia greats – Don Russo and Robert Newton – began studying the guitar at age 14. A native of Chapin, South Carolina, he immediately developed a love for the instrument that has translated into nearly 10 dedicated years of playing, studying, and above all, listening to the instrument.
While his earliest influences were hard rock bands from the 70’s and 80’s, A.J. has studied all types of music and is capable of teaching so. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina this past May and during his years at the University, his band Seventy Six And Sunny has become the Columbia college-rock favorite. His passion for music is funneled into his teaching, believing that every student has the ability to attain all of their aspirations with hard work, patience, and direction.
