Campbell McEntire
Campbell McEntire, originally from western North Carolina, moved to Columbia in July of 2024. He is currently a graduate student at the University of South Carolina School of Music, where he is working on obtaining his Masters in guitar performance, studying under Mak Grgić. Campbell received his B.A. in music performance with honors at Wake Forest University, where he studied with esteemed classical guitarist and instructor Dr. Marco Sartor as a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Scholarship in music. It was during this formal instruction that Campbell rapidly developed a passion for teaching, as the music faculty around him served as significant inspirations. He decided that his ultimate goal would be to serve as that inspiration to others. Campbell recognizes through his own experiences in music education that some students are slow to develop their specific niches due to a simple lack of exposure. It is for that reason that he always strives to provide a well-rounded education to his students, exposing them to music from a multitude of angles. Campbell is an experienced performer, as he started playing guitar at the age of six, and has been performing in front of live audiences of various sizes for well over a decade, starting at the young age of ten. He grew up playing guitar, bass, and drums in the church, and has been invited on multiple occasions to perform as a guest artist for exclusive showcases and university-sponsored events including but not limited to: the Scholarship Benefactor Brunch for Wake Forest donors, Service of Remembrance for WFU alumni/faculty/staff, and the annual WFU Honors & Awards Ceremony wherein he was also a recipient of the “Outstanding Graduate in Music” award.
