Michael Atwater
Michael Atwater is an accomplished guitarist who has established himself in Columbia’s music scene and throughout the region. As a lead guitarist with The Casual Kings, his stylings may be heard on their EP “Bustin Through.”
Michael has been playing guitar for nearly a decade and has studied under such local greats as Robert Newton, and more currently Don Russo. His stage performances have included appearances at area music festivals, night clubs, and The Township Auditorium. He has toured extensively with his band The Casual Kings.
Michael’s brand of music consists of a blend of rock and blues combined with his own creative style. Following his appearance at The Township Auditorium, Otis Taylor of The State Newspaper wrote that “The Casual Kings’ Mike Atwater’s solo guitar work on “Soldier’s Prayer” was one of the most exhilarating moments of the evening.”
Michael’s enthusiasm inspires his students, bringing out all of their talent and passion for learning to play guitar. Michael teaches Monday – Friday at Freeway Music Northeast. He is also a co-owner of Blythewood Jiu-Jitsu!
