Michael Crawford has been studying and performing drum kit and percussion for over 15 years. Beginning in 2005, he has studied under Tony Lee, Omar Carmenates, Steve Lyman, and Tim Daisy. From 2011-2012, he was a member of the Furman University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Matt Olson, as well as the Furman University Jazz Combo under Steve Watson and Keith Davis.

Since 2008, he has performed and/or recorded with Niecy Blues, ET Anderson, Calculator, The Sea Wolf Mutiny, Numbtongue, Nathan Hussey, Dear Blanca, Marshall Brown, Mids, Ben Eidson, Amos Hoffman, Sam Edwards, Greg Patterson, Peter Dimery, Shannon Hoover, Mark Rapp, and many others.

Since 2016, Michael has had the privilege of teaching students of various skill levels, emphasizing ergonomically appropriate technique, interdependence, critical listening, and musical literacy, all of which are lifelong endeavors.
