Continuing Education
Not only are the Freeway Music piano instructors highly qualified, but their continuing education is a vital part of being a piano teacher in our studio. Many of our teachers are pursuing masters and doctoral degrees at The University of South Carolina. We encourage continual growth as a part of our culture at Freeway Music. Our instructors often take private lessons with other instructors within the studio to strengthen different parts of their playing.

Locally Involved
Our violin instructors are very active in the local music scene and community. Some instructors play in the South Carolina Philharmonic, Greenville Symphony, the Savannah Symphony, and other prestigious symphonies in the region. Others play fiddle in Irish, bluegrass, and gypsy jazz outfits such as Syr and the Flat Out Strangers.

Violin Recitals
Our recitals are not your run-of-the-mill recitals. Each instructor is in charge of picking their date, venue, and customizing it to create a unique experience. This gives instructors ownership and makes the recital more special, personalized, and exciting.

Chamber Music
We just recently started Freeway Music groups including string quartets at various levels. This offers a great experience for violin students to play in a smaller settings than their school orchestra, and larger than their private lessons can offer. This opens up a whole new set of repertoire for our students.

Showcases
We often pair our violin students with other students to form groups that rehearse and perform in showcases. Some of the venues include: New Brookland Tavern, Tin Roof, and Music Farm (Columbia’s only music venue with a 1200 person capacity). Technology:
A major part of our violin instructors’ training includes incorporating apps and technology, seamlessly and creatively, into their lessons.

Apps
Apps allow the instructor to enhance and accelerate the student’s understanding of rhythm, sight reading, tuning, ear training, practicing, notating, and more. We have high speed internet, and each of our instructors has a laptop, tablet, or other device to enhance the violin lesson experience.

Music Achievement Program and Practice Schedule
We have a patented custom system to measure students achievements, community involvement, and electives. We offer rewards to students as they pass levels. This is all shared with our parents, students, and teachers on Google Sheets. Our violin students and teachers also share their practice schedule through Google Sheets as well.
